What?!!

Back-Up Alert

by Edwin on May 6, 2009

in What?!!

I read a lot because I like to be informed and like to learn as much as I can, but lately I have not been reading my magazines and I can already see the back-up getting close to Long Beach. The culprit it’s me of course, when I wasn’t driving and taking the bus to work I would read three days a week but now I leave for work later and as a result I don’t read my magazines anymore and I don’t like it. I told my sister about it and she suggested that I go to work a bit earlier so I can sit in the parking lot and read, that sounds like a great idea but now I am used to waking up a bit later and as you can see I am the problem. I just need to re-adjust my schedule and make some time for my magazines otherwise I will be able to see the back-up all the way down to Orange County and that is quite a ways from where I live.

I Can’t Believe Myself

by Edwin on April 1, 2009

in What?!!

Continuing with disappointment week and in case you don’t know what I am talking about just check Monday’s post at Gainsnlosses and you will understand. Anyway, I have been looking for a car for a few months now, I found a nice VW bug a while back but in the end nothing happened there. Well, last week I was just checking ads and found one for a 78 Mercedes Benz 450 slc that really caught my attention. I looked for a picture of said car online and as soon as I saw it I knew that I wanted it. To make a long story short when I went back to check the ad this past Monday the ad was no longer there, imagine my disappointment. I had time to call and time to go check it out last week but nope, I was too complacent again and have no one to blame but myself. I just can’t believe myself sometimes.

A Magazine?

by Edwin on March 26, 2009

in What?!!

Once upon a time, ok this happened in January, I received a magazine by mail which I thought was odd because I never ordered it to begin with. I honestly didn’t think any of it, I thought that it was a trial offer to see if I liked it, I leafed through it and it is a nice magazine but I would never order it. The following month I got another issue, I said to myself at the time and I mentioned it to my sister as well that I would call the magazine and ask them why I was getting it. In March I got another issue, didn’t call, you can call me lazy but I do prefer that you call me busy but in reality it’s a bit of both. I already got the next issue, last week I think, and when my sister saw it she asked me if I had called and when I said no she just said, “of course.” I did say that I would call them and I will, just as soon a I have some free time or I get the first bill, whichever comes first.

Ouch!!

in What?!!

Finally made it to the dentist yesterday and I have good news and bad news to tell you. Lets start with the bad news first, the dentist told me that I need a root canal, possibly two. Remember that not too long ago I mentioned that one of my fillings just fell off and wouldn’t you know it that molar needs one of the root canals. The other root canal will be done only if I want to on an existing root canal that was done when I was 14 I think, it doesn’t hurt so I am going to leave it alone.

Now lets move on to the good news if you can call them good news. I only have one cavity which isn’t bad considering that the last time I went to the dentist was about 10 years ago. My insurance will cover 80% of the cost which is great but I am going to have to take care of the rest and that means that my debt will be going up and that is not good news at all, and you wonder why I don’t like going to the dentist.

That Expensive!!

by Edwin on March 9, 2009

in What?!!

My cell phone carrier is AT&T which used to be Cingular a while back if you remember. I was checking for a data plan, preferably one with unlimited Internet access and text messaging and the cheapest unlimited plan I found was for $50 dollars and that’s only because my phone is a Smartphone. That would make my monthly bill go from an average of $45 dollars or less to $95 dollars, that is assuming I don’t pay any other fees. Things being the way they are right now the last thing I want to do is to just sign on without looking at alternatives first. I checked T-Mobile because they have a phone I like and their unlimited data plan for the G1, the phone I like, is only $35 dollars. If I choose that plan plus their phone plan the monthly bill would be $74.98 that is not including fees. I made some assumptions based on how much I pay in fees for my current AT&T plan and if I am right the monthly bill would be close to $90 dollars, again just an assumption on my part, which is only $5 dollars less that I would pay if I were to get the AT&T plan but these days a buck is a buck, right?. Anyway, I’ll let you know what happens.

No Posts!!

in What?!!

I was just getting ready to write today’s posts when I noticed that no posts were published last Friday. I did some checking and I just don’t know what happened with my new editor, I wrote the posts and then clicked the publish button but it obviously didn’t happen. I had to use my WordPress editor to post last Friday’s posts and I am going to keep using it until I figure out what happened to ScribeFire. I thought that I had found a new editor until the new Live Writer update comes out but now I am not so sure. I am going to do some test posts with ScribeFire and if it doesn’t work then we are going to have to go our separate ways.

A Funny Thing Happened

by Edwin on October 14, 2008

in What?!!

I was on my way to work yesterday and I stopped at the local Rite Aid to get some medicine since I am still sick. So being the type of guy that I am when it comes to shopping I went to the medicine aisle and I grabbed what I was looking for and quickly headed to the checkout lane. I get to the cashier, she scans my medicine and then tells me the amount, I swiped my card and then she said to me, “I am going to need to see some id for that”. I laughed and pulled out my id to show it to her and at the same time she pointed to screen and said to me, “see it says that I have to check id, it’s a new law” to which I responded “there is a first time for everything.” I got my medicine and my receipt and out the door I went. I have never been carded before for buying medicine and that to say the least was very funny to me.

What Was That Again?

by Edwin on July 30, 2008

in What?!!

I have this little problem and it’s becoming quite an annoyance. Last Wednesday I woke up and I couldn’t hear that well, my left ear was the problem. I still can’t hear that well and it has been one week. My hearing is only 25% of what it should be and that sucks big time. It’s kind of like when you have been on a car for a while and all of the sudden you realize that you can’t hear that well but all you have to do is swallow to relieve the pressure and presto, back to normal. I feel the pressure and I have swallowed quite a few times and I can hear well for just a sec when I do but it just won’t relieve that pressure completely.

The culprit is earwax, how do I know that?. That is what caused it before so it has to be the same thing again. If it was something serious I think I couldn’t hear a thing, but that is just speculation on my part. I am going to wait and see for now because I have this feeling that my hearing will be back to normal soon so don’t worry I’ll be just fine.

Some People

by Edwin on July 23, 2008

in What?!!

Let me tell you a story, this happened last Wednesday. I was on the bus on my way home at about 8:30 PM. I like sitting all the way in the back either on the right or left window but those were taken that so I had to settle for the middle seat which is my third favorite place to sit. So there I am just minding my own business when this guy gets on the bus, beard and sunglasses which don’t help that much at night as far as I know.

The guy sitting on my right hand side was on the phone, one of those loud people who have no manners and don’t mind informing the rest of us about their not so private conversations. Sunglasses dude kept looking back at loud dude and for a second I thought that he was going to say something but nothing happened. Next stop some more people get on the bus and this little older dude gets on and sits next to sunglasses dude. I wasn’t paying attention to them so next thing I know sunglasses dude and little dude are standing up in a holding match where little dude was grabbing sunglasses dude’s arm to keep him from coming closer while sunglasses kept saying, “let me go or I’ll hit you” to little dude. Sunglasses dude and little dude break it up, nothing happens and that was it, I thought.

Sunglasses dude then moved to the back of the bus and stood there maybe a couple of feet away from me. Then he moved and it was pretty obvious that he wanted the available seat right next to me which was totally fine. But then he said to me “scoot over sir”, and right when he said that I said to myself, “where the hell does this guy want me to scoot over to?”, so then I looked at the seat next to me and then looked at him and said, “that is all I can do” and he just looked at me and then moved away. So then I knew why he got into an argument with little dude, sunglasses is one of those people that don’t like other people sitting too close to them. Hey if that is your thing, let me give you some advice, don’t take the bus ok. Moral of the story, you don’t give into bullies. If I had scoot over like that loser wanted me to he would have kept on pestering me, always  hold your ground and bullies will walk away, trust me.

I Couldn’t Believe It

by Edwin on July 16, 2008

in What?!!

Yesterday on my way home I was minding my own business waiting for the bus on the corner of Wilshire and Vermont. After about 15 minutes I saw the bus coming and as it got closer and closer I could see that it was full. There were about 25 people at the bus stop so I thought that after seeing how full the bus was they would just let it make its stop and not even try to get on. To my surprise as soon as the bus stopped I saw most of them trying to get on the bus. I am standing there just looking at all those people going through the door and when there was about two left outside the driver finally closed the door.

The bus started to go and as it went by in front of me I could clearly see that this bus was full. I have seen full buses and have even been on a few myself but nothing like that bus. I could see people packed like sardines from the front steps all the way to the back. As the bus drove away I followed it with my eyes and apparently I wasn’t the only one watching it, a woman and her children were watching the same scene I was watching. I just waited for the next bus which was full but not like the first one and that is the way I like it. Always remember this, if the bus is full people just wait for the next one, that is unless you really have to get somewhere in a hurry then you are on your own.
