Windows Live Writer Plugin?

by Edwin on July 1, 2009

in Technology

It has been more than six months and I am still waiting for my Windows Live Writer update. So I went to the Live Writer official website and found some info. Apparently there is a plugin to fix the problem that made me stop using Live Writer to begin with. Lucky me Sunshine is still sick and that is where the newest version of Live Writer is installed so there isn’t much that I can do at the moment on that front. However, I am going to install Live Writer on my desktop and do some test posts this weekend and then try the plugin to see if the problem is fixed. If that happens then I will be a very happy guy indeed because Live Writer is one of the best Blog Editors that I have ever used, stay tuned.

My Cool G1

by Edwin on June 22, 2009

in Technology

I finally did what I should have done a while back when I first laid my eyes on that G1. On June 1st while I was in Greenville my gf and I went to a T-Mobile store mainly because I wanted to know if they would do a price match on the G1 since I had seen it being sold for $98 dollars online. So I asked the guy and he said no, I said thanks and we went our way.Once I was home I decided to Nike and ordered it from Wirefly. I chose the black G1, My faves 300 plan along with the unlimited web and message bundle and the final price was $97.99 which wasn’t that bad.I received an order confirmation the same afternoon and my phone was delivered on June the 8th and have been happily using it ever since. I do need to buy a cover for it and I think that I know exactly what I want. For the record, I don’t think that I will get a metal case this time, too slippery.

Problems With Sunshine

by Edwin on June 12, 2009

in Technology

Something is wrong with Sunshine, my laptop, and I don’t know what it is. I turn it on and all I get is a black screen with the mouse pointer and nothing else. This has been happening for the last two days. I was talking to my girlfriend yesterday and while we were talking I turned it on just for the heck of it and it worked. Then, before I went to work it started again, slowly but it worked fine but not this morning. I already did all that I could do and nothing, I went to support forums and still nothing.I am so mad at myself, I wish I could do more but I just can’t and that really pisses me off. I am going to try again later today and if it doesn’t work I am going to have to take her to see the doctor. I just hope that I don’t end up losing my pictures or work because if that were to happen I would really be sad and mad at myself.

I Want A G1

by Edwin on May 27, 2009

in Technology

We all know that life throws curve balls at you when you least expect it and it just happened to me and as a result of that I have to look for a better cell phone plan. I was going to go with an iPhone but the price for unlimited Internet, unlimited text messages and instant messages was just too much for me. So then I did some shopping around the way we are supposed to do, I went to T-Mobile and after checking their plans I found just what I was looking for. I want the G1 with the my Faves 300 plan and the unlimited web and text and instant messages Internet plan, plus with my Faves 300 I can make unlimited calls to my five favorite numbers without using my minutes. I am not really sure if I can send unlimited texts to my Faves though, the info that I read on the T-Mobile web site wasn’t too clear for me so I am going to go to a store and ask just to be sure, stay tuned now.

It has been almost five months since I stopped using Windows Live Writer because of a HTML problem. I thought that by now something would have been done to fix that problem but that is not the case. I am very disappointed about that because I love Windows Live Writer and can’t wait to use it again. What is funny is that while I am waiting for the Windows Live Writer fix to be released I received an e-mail from my original blog editor Qumana letting me know that they had an upgrade. I still have Qumana on my desktop and I am thinking of downloading it to Sunshine and give it a test drive and that should be a lot of fun.

Windows Mobile 6.1

by Edwin on March 13, 2009

in Technology

My cell phone is a Motorola Q Global that I got as a birthday present last year. It’s a very nice and useful phone, I have even written posts with it that I later transferred to my my blog editor as you know. Well, recently I was checking a website and there I found out that there was an update for Windows Mobile 6.0 which is the one that my phone came with. As I kept reading I found out that said update had come out last year!!, how did I miss that?, easy, I wasn’t paying attention obviously. Anyway, I downloaded it, followed the directions and lo and behold my Q is running Windows Mobile 6.1 and so far I like it. I have had some problems unlocking my phone and I don’t know if it’s me but it does feel a bit slower when I click on something but that is basically it. I have not checked everything that the update offers but overall I am happy and would recommend the update.

Internet Explorer 8

by Edwin on February 6, 2009

in Technology

On a recent post I wrote about the problems i was having with IE 7, I was so feed up with it that I downloaded Firefox as a back up. I was surfing the net just minding my own business this past Wednesday when I decided to search for IE 7, when I got to the site I saw that you could download IE 8 and even though it’s not the final version of IE 8 I decided to download and install it. So far so good, didn’t I say the same about ScribeFire, I decided to give it a test so I went to the websites were IE 7 was having trouble and to my surprise I had no problems. On Thursday, I fired up IE 8 and opened a few tabs, I usually open 5, I check mail, I read news and watch a few videos and then all of the sudden it completely froze. And I mean it froze, I had to push the power button to turn off Sunshine. I restarted in safe mode and then turn it off the way it has to be done and then again turned it back on. I went back to IE 8 with the same tabs and guess what?, yep, it froze again. Went through all those steps again and decided to use Firefox to see if IE 8 was the problem. I opened Firefox, again 5 tabs and I couldn’t believe my luck, it froze as well.I was getting annoyed of course so I said to myself, IE 8 has to go until the final version comes out. I did a system restore and have not had a problem since. I am pretty sure that the problem was related to IE 8 but that is ok, the problem has been solved and life goes on.

Trying A New Blog Editor

by Edwin on January 30, 2009

in Technology

As you all know my old Blog Editor had a bug and as a result of that I had to stop using it. The bug is to be fixed when the next update comes out, when that will be? nobody knows. Since I had to continue blogging I then used the editor that comes with every blog platform, mine is WordPress, and it has served me well so far.Yesterday I was surfing the net and decided to search for free Blog Editors and found a post that listed five and at the bottom of that post it mentioned an editor that worked with Firefox as an add-on and since I had recently installed Firefox I decided to check it out. The name of the editor is ScribeFire and so far I like what I see, I don’t see a button to add tables and I use those a lot on my other blog. You can add links and images just as easy as Live Writer and I like that a lot, i don’t think that anybody wants to go through a bunch of steps just to add a picture or a link, click and play is what I like. I am going to do a bit more testing and if I am happy with it I won’t have to go looking for another Blog Editor anytime soon, or until the Live Writer update comes out.

Blog Editor Problems

by Edwin on December 22, 2008

in Technology

pI can’t believe i didn’t notice this last week when it first happened. If you are a regular reader you must have noticed something wrong with the posts. Symbols that are not supposed to be there, such as that “p” at the beginning of a post and where there is supposed to be a new paragraph there is none. That “p” is part of the HTML or Hyper Text Markup Language which is the predominant language for web pages according to Wikipedia. Problem is, is not even right, it is supposed to be “lt;pgt;” but for some strange reason it only shows the “p” as we all can see. It started on December 15th so i then upgraded to the newer version of Windows Live Writer, which is my blog editor, thinking that maybe that was the problem. I then reposted an old post with the new editor and lo and behold the same problem. What is the problem?, i sure don’t know but you can bet that i am looking for an answer./p

Very Qood

by Edwin on September 3, 2008

in Technology

For my last birthday I got a new cell phone as a present, the Motorola Q Global. A very nice phone with a nice keyboard which makes it very easy to write a text message if you are into that, I mostly use it for making calls. When I first got it I did notice a program called Documents To Go but never checked it fully. So over the weekend my sister got a new phone and she was fiddling with it so decided do the same with mine and that is how I ran into that same program again and decided to to give it a try to see if I could use it to write something and sure enough it worked. As a result of that experiment this very post was 80% written on my Q. I say 80% because I did have to do some adding and editing with my blog editor, overall I am happy with the way it worked. I still need to learn how to put numbers and symbols when I am using it but other than that I think I just found a very useful tool to help me with my blogging. Now if any ideas come into my head I can just take out my phone and start writing and then transfer what I wrote to my blog editor for the finishing touches. That means I can leave sunshine at home and that is great news for my back, she was getting very heavy you know.
