Trying A New Blog Editor

by Edwin on January 30, 2009

in Technology

As you all know my old Blog Editor had a bug and as a result of that I had to stop using it. The bug is to be fixed when the next update comes out, when that will be? nobody knows. Since I had to continue blogging I then used the editor that comes with every blog platform, mine is WordPress, and it has served me well so far.Yesterday I was surfing the net and decided to search for free Blog Editors and found a post that listed five and at the bottom of that post it mentioned an editor that worked with Firefox as an add-on and since I had recently installed Firefox I decided to check it out. The name of the editor is ScribeFire and so far I like what I see, I don’t see a button to add tables and I use those a lot on my other blog. You can add links and images just as easy as Live Writer and I like that a lot, i don’t think that anybody wants to go through a bunch of steps just to add a picture or a link, click and play is what I like. I am going to do a bit more testing and if I am happy with it I won’t have to go looking for another Blog Editor anytime soon, or until the Live Writer update comes out.

Internet Explorer Problems

by Edwin on January 28, 2009

in Just Stuff

I am a Windows guy and proud of it but recently I have been having issues with Internet Explorer 7 and it’s getting annoying. Sometimes surfing the net can be so slow even though I have a high speed connection. Sometimes the program does not respond, freezes and then it shuts down and sometimes it works perfectly. I have never had so many problems with previous versions of Explorer until now. Maybe it’s just a Vista issue because my desktop, which runs XP by the way, has no problem with IE 7 but if that is the case how come the problems are recent?. I don’t remember this happening when I first got Sunshine but just to be fair I don’t remember if Vista came with IE 6 and had to upgrade to 7 or if it came with 7 and had to upgrade to a newer version of the same.

Anyway, as a result I have installed Firefox on my computer as a back-up just in case Explorer starts to act up. If that happens I close Explorer and start Firefox and go about my business. Funny thing is that when I am at work both programs freeze and shut down for no apparent reason, go figure. I hope the problem, whatever it is, is fixed soon but in the meantime I am adapting to the circumstances.

I Want to Play Eve

by Edwin on January 26, 2009

in Hobbies

Everybody know that I am a gamer, that is to say that I play video games whenever I can. One of my favorite computer games is called X2: The Threat, it is a space simulation game in which you can pretty much do whatever you want to do. You can have factories, you can mine, you can be a pirate or hunt pirates. I have not played X2 in a while but when I do I can’t get enough of it.

Last week I was checking my mail and there was an ad for a game called Eve Online so I then went to the official website. To my surprise Eve is just like X2, you can trade, you can be a pirate, you can have your own corporation and that caught my attention. I also have the game that I bought a while back but never even opened the box because you needed an Internet connection which I didn’t have at the time, I am going to look for it and check it out. You can play the game online for a $14.95 monthly fee but you can sign up for a free trial before you commit. I wish X2 was online and If I had to pay to play it I would do it in half a second, in the meantime I am going to check Eve and then decide if I want to give it a try.

Finally Friday

by Edwin on January 23, 2009

in Uncategorized

This week felt like it would never end and now that it is Friday I can finally relax. This week was quite bad for me, Monday and Tuesday were the worst and after that I just could not get back to my regular schedule and that is why there were no posts on Wednesday. I decided to rest as much as I could and that is exactly what I did, got home from work and went to bed, I am not back at full power yet but I will be.

There is so much going on in my life at the moment, good and bad, and that is making some of my bad habits, going to bed late to name just one, that much worse and it is getting to me and if I let it get to me full force I am sure that I am going to end up in pretty bad shape health wise and I don’t want that. I am doing my best to try and balance everything out the best I can but it is proving to be a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Anyway, enough of that, have a great weekend and I will see you Monday morning bright and early as usual :)

One More Day

by Edwin on January 19, 2009

in Uncategorized

I don’t work today because it’s a holiday so I still have one more day to go on my three day weekend. I decided to be completely, and I do mean completely lazy the first two days and I see no reason to change that today. We have been having such nice weather but it won’t last forever, in fact we are supposed to have rain this Wednesday, so I might as well enjoy the 83 degree day while it’s here, right?.

I was so excited about it that I forgot to mention it. Yes it’s true the three day weekend is close and getting closer and you know how I enjoy those. I am going to try, I did say try, to do as much as I can around the house and work on some blog related stuff, and maybe play some COD 4 as well, just some. Have a great weekend and I will see you Monday.

Candidate Number 1

by Edwin on January 16, 2009

in Just Stuff

Not long ago I wrote a post about some bug that bit me. Well, after searching and searching I finally found a few candidates that I like and were well under my budget and that is always good. I have been e-mailing back and forth with a nice guy up north, close to Sacramento to be exact, and he has answered my questions and sent me extra pictures of his bug. It is an automatic stick shift and I like that since I can’t drive standard, now how many men would admit to that?. It does have a few problems, some of the head liner is ripped in the back and there is some rust in the back lid but nothing major as far as I know. I am going to ask a few more questions  and wait and see what happens, so stay tuned.

Resident Evil Degeneration Sucks!!

by Edwin on January 14, 2009

in Hobbies

As you know during the weekend I watched a few movies including Resident Evil Degeneration. I am such a big fan of the Resident Evil games that as soon as I heard of this movie I just had to get it and I did last Wednesday. That night when I got home I watched it and I honestly was not that impressed with it. The movie is 100% CG and I was expecting something spectacular, well the scenery looked good but the characters that in my opinion have to look the best looked right down crummy. Saturday comes around and after watching The Net with my nephew and almost dying of boredom I decided to give Resident Evil Degeneration a second try and see what he thought of it. Well, he agreed with me that the movie was horrible, needless to say I was so disappointed that I thought of returning the movie but I can’t at this point according to the Best Buy return policy, so I am stuck with it.

Weekend Movie-thon

by Edwin on January 12, 2009

in Just Stuff

The weekend was beautiful, sunny and warm and from what I’ve heard this week is looking good as well with temperatures in the low to mid 80′s. I didn’t do that much but I did watch quite a few movies. On Saturday I watched

  1. The second half of Enchanted, this movie became one of my favorites real fast and in fact I got it for Christmas as you all know. If you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it.
  2. P2, this one is about a crazy security guard terrorizing this poor woman in a parking garage. The verdict, I liked it.
  3. The Rock, this one is about some rogue Marines taking over Alcatraz and asking for ransom. I liked it.
  4. The Net, I watched this one with my nephew and we both agree that this one moved so slow and was so boring that we quit halfway. Didn’t like it.
  5. Resident Evil Degeneration, again watched this one with my nephew but you are going to have to wait for another post to find out about this one.

On Sunday continuing with my Movie-thon I watched

  1. Death Wish 3, this one is one of those movies you can’t help but like. Charles Bronson taking care of some criminals the old fashioned way. Liked it and I recommend it.
  2. National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets, this one is about the search for a treasure as the name implies and is as good as the first one. Liked it.

And just like that the weekend was over and so was my Movie-thon. I was surprised that I watched that many movies, I usually watch one, maybe two or none at all and that is it. I had a lot of fun and quite a few laughs and although I didn’t do that much work around the house we all know that there is nothing wrong with having a relaxing weekend.

That Ghia Bit Me

by Edwin on January 9, 2009

in Just Stuff

Last December (sounds so long ago, doesn’t it?) I wrote a post about the possibility of me getting a car. At the time I was thinking of a VW bug but then I took a look at a VW Karmann Ghia and if I could find one of those within my price range I would buy it in a second, or two. The problem is that Ghias and Bugs in good condition are expensive and I want either car in good condition at a reasonable price, $3,000 and under to be more specific. I am going to keep looking and if I find the one for me you’ll know about it.
