Long Hair or Short Hair?

by Edwin on May 30, 2008

in Just Stuff

Once upon a time I used to have long shoulder length hair. For a while it was fun but after a while all that washing and drying and washing and drying and washing and drying and more washing and more drying. Well, it got real annoying and that is why I got rid of it, that was back in 2004 if I remember correctly.

I know how it is for women when it comes to cutting their long or short hair but for me it wasn’t that big of a deal, to me it is just hair and besides it grows back. After my long hair days were over short was in, I didn’t have to pay a barber and haven’t had to paid one since 2003 because I do it myself. I just plug in the machine and put one of those plastic  attachments that tells you how short you want it and off I go. I do need some help with the back so I ask my dad or sister for some help with that but other than that I am fine.

Why am I talking about hair today you ask. Reason is that I haven’t had a haircut in a little more than a month and as a result of that I can feel curls starting to develop and I have been thinking, just thinking if I should let it grow back again and go back to my hair metal days.

Such A Back-Up

by Edwin on May 28, 2008

in What?!!

Once upon a time I was up to date with everything I read. That is not the case anymore. I have such a back-up that you wouldn’t believe . I am currently reading March’s magazine edition and we are in May last time I checked. And that is not the worst part, this magazine comes out every week that is about 7 issues behind if I am right. I read three times a week on the way to work and I have barely put a dent on all those magazines.

Then there is my daily online reading, I am about 28 articles behind and everyday there is a new one or two more added to the list. Just yesterday I think I read 6 of them just to try to get ahead.

Then there is my comic books, you don’t want to know about that and even though I have stopped buying them (more of that on another post) I have to read the ones I have that I haven’t read. Plus I have to get, I am going to say about 7 months worth of comics, that I am behind just to keep my collection up to date.

And lets not talk about the newspapers, once upon a time I would read The Los Angeles Times and USA Today everyday. The Wall Street Journal once in a while if I could but that is not the case anymore. I just get the Sunday edition of the Los Angeles Times and even then the only reading I do is that of the weekly ads. Reading the paper has also kept me from one of my other hobbies (more on that on another post) and that in itself is sad.

There is so much to do in our daily lives that sometimes we just don’t have time for the simple things that make us happy. My main problem is time management after all I seem to have plenty of time for Call of Duty 4 but that is another story. The whole thing is so depressing to say the least but this I know. Sooner or later I will catch up and when that happens you will know about it that is for sure.

Sleep, Lots of Sleep

by Edwin on May 26, 2008

in Weekend Recap

First thing’s first, Happy Memorial Day and my personal salute for all the men and women of the Armed Forces, always in my thoughts and prayers.

The three day weekend is not over yet, I still have today to go……………….hey, why am I writing this post if the weekend is not over yet?. Anyway, Friday night and into Saturday I went to sleep late because I was playing Call Of Duty 4, from about 3 AM all the way to noon I think it was. I then woke up at about 4 PM and then watched  or attempted to watch the game between the Columbus Crew and the New England Revolution which New England won 1-0. I said attempted to because I was either asleep or half awake for most of the game. When that game was over I switched channels and I again attempted to watch the game between the Colorado Rapids and Chivas USA but the same thing happened again, I later found out that Chivas won 2-1. The next thing I remember is looking at the clock and it’s about midnight so I started to play Call Of Duty 4 again, this time well into 6 AM.

Sunday I woke up late, about 4 PM. My plan was to get up before noon to watch the game between the Chicago Fire and the New York Red Bulls but I couldn’t. The game was a blowout with a final score of 5-1 in favor of the Fire. I had lunch, some coffee and then sat on the couch and watched some TV. I then played more Call of Duty 4 and ended up going to bed at about 4AM. As you can tell this weekend was a very productive one for me, you don’t know how proud of myself I am.

Thunderstorms

by Edwin on May 23, 2008

in Just Stuff

Yesterday we had thunderstorms here in L.A. and we are supposed to have them again today and tomorrow. It honestly had been a while since I’ve heard thunder so I had to stop listening to my Nano and I sure wasn’t disappointed. At one point there was rain and sun at the same time and that was quite a sight. I even took some video with my cell phone but after watching it the rain is not noticeable at all and I don’t know why. Maybe it was the director that didn’t frame the shoot the way it should’ve been. Hey, well never because he sure is not saying anything.

No Pain, What Gain

by Edwin on May 21, 2008

in Just Stuff

I wrote a little about how I hit my toe in a piece of wood somebody left laying around, I have not found the culprit yet. Well, the rest of that week my toe seemed to be fine until Thursday of that week when I hit it again, not as hard though, and had to sit and check it because of the pain. I squeezed and blood came out so I kept squeezing until no more blood came out, problem solved. The rest of the week and the weekend was ok with no pain until this past Monday. I woke up and for some reason I touched my toe and squeezed a bit right at the base of the nail and immediately this clear liquid started to come out, not that much but enough to notice. I then took a shower and off to work I went with the pain getting worse and worse as the day went by.

By the middle of the day I was limping badly and the pain was so bad that even putting my foot on the floor hurt. It was so bad that I was ready to call it quits and go home but then I thought to myself, just deal with it. I said to myself no more limping, walk as if you had no pain, forget about it and to hell with it. Well that is exactly what I did and by the end of the day I was walking fine but still had a bit of pain but not as bad. I am happy to report that I have no noticeable pain as I write this and doing fine.

The moral of the story, whenever you are in pain take an aspirin and don’t try to be a tough guy or girl.

Lazy Weekend

by Edwin on May 19, 2008

in Weekend Recap

The weekend was quite something, the weather was hot, hot hot. Mid to upper 90′s perfect beach weather, if only the water wasn’t so cold but hen again even it if was warm I probably would have stayed home. I am allergic to cold water and crowds, I am more of a homebody. Friday night into Saturday I didn’t get any sleep until about 12 noon Saturday and then it wasn’t sleep just a quick nap. At about 3:30 PM I woke up and watched some TV until 7:30 PM when my team the four time champion D.C. United  played Chivas USA. I was still feeling sleepy and about 30 minutes into the game when my team was winning 1-0 I fell asleep. That was a good thing because my team ended up losing 3-1 and I have nothing more to say about that. I then watched some more TV into the early hours of Sunday and played Call Of Duty 4 for about 2 hours. I was a bit rusty and that showed in my results, I played in 3 of the 4 new maps and then I went to sleep at about 4 AM.

Sunday I woke up at about 1:30 PM and watched the last minutes of the L.A. Galaxy and the F.C. Dallas which ended up in a 5-1 Galaxy win. I then wrote a letter of recommendation for one of my friends and after that I played some more Call Of Duty 4. The evening was quiet, I watched some more TV, wrote some posts and then ended up the weekend with a bang by playing COD 4 until about 1:30 AM and then went to bed.

Got My Dates Wrong That’s All

by Edwin on May 16, 2008

in What?!!

I was so happy, I was celebrating the fact that we were going to have a three day weekend. At least that is what I thought until the following happened.

I was just having fun as usual and then my friend shows up, we talk for a few and when he is on his way back to his office I ask him if he is ready for the the three day weekend to which he replied, “are you taking a day off on Monday?”. I say no and then I ask, “isn’t Monday a holiday?” to which he replies, ” I think that holiday is in about two weeks”.

Thanks a lot, I was so happy thinking that I was going to spend three good days resting and playing Call Of Duty 4 (did you know that they have new maps) but instead I am going to have to settle with a regular weekend. That is ok because you know that I enjoy the weekend no matter is it’s a two day weekend or a 7 day weekend ( is there such a thing?). From now on I am going to keep a better eye on the my calendar, that is for sure.

The Ballad Of Jayne

by Edwin on May 14, 2008

in Just Stuff

I have been listening to 80′s Metal recently and this song by L.A. Guns in particular. The music is great, the lyrics are great and in my opinion it is one of the best L.A. Guns song ever and one of the best power ballads that should have been included in that Monster Ballads CD. Find the video, watch it, sing along and then tell me if I am right or wrong.

She was always something special
A diamond shining bright in the rain
Everybody dreams of angels
No one will ever know how much I loved ya so
Now it all seems funny
Kinda like a dream
Things ain’t always what they seem
What a shame
What happened to Jayne
U were always on my mind
A childlike summer days in the sun
Slowly wishes turn to sadness
Time don’t heal a broken gun
I wish I’d never let u go
Hear me now cause I want ya to know
Now it all seems funny
Kinda like a dream
Things ain’t always what they seem
What a shame
What happened to Jayne
Now she’s breakin’ hearts in heaven
Shining bright in the sky
I still hear her voice in the wind
I still think of u in the night
Well I guess she’ll never know
How much I need her so
Now it all seems funny
Kinda like a dream
Things ain’t always what they seem
What a shame
What happened to Jayne

That Hurts!!

by Edwin on May 12, 2008

in Weekend Recap

Saturday was one of those days. I woke up pretty late, at about 2:30 PM. took a shower, made some coffee and had something to eat. I then took a bag of trash to the dumpster, on the way back I hit my left foot, my big toe to be exact on this piece of wood somebody and it hurt like hell. Immediately my toenail turned blue and when I pressed down on it blood came out. I sat on the couch and tried to forget about the pain so I got ready for the game between the Houston Dynamo and the Colorado Rapids, the game ended in a 2-1 Houston win their first of the season. When that was over I switched channels to watch Top Chef, there is something about that Padma and the food that keeps me watching the show. When Top Chef was over I changed channels to watch the game between the L.A. Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls and as usual the Galaxy was already losing 1-0. They managed to tie the game but the Red Bulls quickly answered on a counter attack you just have to see, check here to see it.. My toe started to hurt again and so I went to bed with a lot of pain.

I went to bed but I couldn’t sleep all night. I finally managed to go to bed at about 6 AM on Sunday and didn’t wake up until 3 PM still in pain and tired. I brushed my teeth and then watched an episode of Hells kitchen, then I watched the game between Chivas USA and the New England Revolution which ended in a 2-1 Revolution win thanks to a superb goal by Taylor Twellman. He is one of the best forwards in MLS in my opinion and now that he is healthy I am going to put him in my fantasy team again. Then it was time to watch a episode of  Survivor: Micronesia F vs F I had missed and then it was time for the 2 hour finale and then the one hour reunion. After that I got online for a few and then went to sleep.

I Want A New Suit

by Edwin on May 9, 2008

in Just Stuff

I have been thinking for a while and have reached the conclusion that I need a new suit. It is not only because I look so darn cool wearing one it is also because you never know when you are going to need it. The one suit that really tickled my fancy is from the Donald J. Trump brand and you can find it at Macy’s. I specially like the flat front pants and the 3 button jacket isn’t half bad either. If I were to get one right now I would choose the black stripe suit just because black goes with everything. I will have to put it on my wishlist for the time being because I am a little short on cash but when I get it you’ll be the first to know.
